Douglas Janoff, Ph.D.’s is currently transitioning from a diplomatic career to a consulting practice that draws upon his work experience in international affairs, human rights and social justice. He is a seasoned Foreign Service Officer, published author, human rights negotiator, policy advisor, learning specialist, researcher, university lecturer and subject matter expert in global issues such as human rights, democracy, governance, justice, and diplomatic affairs. He speaks French and Spanish fluently.
His diplomatic career has included postings to Washington D.C., Afghanistan, and Pakistan, working in a range of foreign-policy functions, such as bilateral and multilateral negotiations, strategic policy analysis, geo-political reporting, and public diplomacy. He is an expert on anti-LGBTQ discrimination and violence; he is the author of Queer Diplomacy: Homophobia, International Relations and LGBT Human Rights (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022) – recently translated into Korean by Hantijae Publishing – and Pink Blood: Homophobic Violence in Canada (University of Toronto Press, 2005), translated into French by Éditions Triptyque, 2007.
Dr. Janoff is now open to opportunities that will allow him to teach, conduct research projects, write reports, develop and deliver training sessions, and provide policy advice to government agencies, the private sector, NGOs, and community-based organizations on ways to strengthen institutions, policies, and practices that protect human rights and promote equality, diversity, and social justice.
